Charles "Chip" Blocker, Jr.

Nov 1, 1974 — Oct 6, 2026

Kansas City, Missouri

Charles “Chip” Blocker, Jr., of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on October 6, 2026, in Kansas City. He was born on November 1, 1974, in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles Blocker, Sr. and Becky Blocker.

Chip received his education in Kansas City, attending St. Elizabeth’s Grade School before going on to Bishop Miege High School. Following high school, he attended Wilbur Wright College in Chicago, Illinois, where he earned his associate degree, and then completed his certification to become a Radiology Technician. He went on to build a meaningful career as a Radiology Technician at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he worked for many years performing CT scans. His work was not only a profession, but also a way he cared for others.

Being the dad to his children, Jill and Max, was the experience that brought him most joy and purpose in life. On the day Max was born, the three of them had a special connection immediately. Chip, Jill, and Max were best buds and always had a smile on their face when they were together.

Chip was deeply creative and found joy in music. He loved both listening to music and making it. He played all kinds of guitars, though bass was his favorite, and he performed in several bands with his friends over the years. Music was one of the many ways he expressed his imagination and creativity.

He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Chiefs games with his family, Royals games, and golf was always on his TV. Chip also loved golf and played wherever he went, which stemmed from his father taking him golfing when he was young. He enjoyed being connected with nature while playing the game he loved. He enjoyed vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family, Florida, and especially going to Key West. He also loved the Bible, which held an important place in his life. His connection with God was strong and he always shared teachings of Christ with his children.

Those who knew Chip will remember a man who was very creative, always funny, always smiling, and blessed with a truly good soul and the biggest heart. He brought warmth and laughter to those around him. He could talk to anyone and would always lend an ear for someone who needed it. His empathy and compassion showed in his life every day by always making time for others.

He is survived by his daughter, Jill Blocker, who would often refer to Chip as her best friend; his son, Max Blocker, who he was so proud to have as a son; his mother, Becky Blocker, his sister Amy (Sean) Barry, and his nephews Jack (Annie) Barry, Frank (Julia) Barry, Joe, and Pete Barry. He also leaves his aunts and uncles Bob and Judy Barackman, Brad and Cheryl Barackman, Chris and Patti Barackman, Steve and Terri Geske, and many cousins who he loved. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Blocker, Sr., his grandparents Bob “Bopper” Barackman, Marion “Mamo” Barackman, and Lily Harris. His family and friends carry forward the memory of his humor, his kindness, his music, and the many ways he showed care for the people he loved.
