Charles "Charlie" Bolch, 81, passed away peacefully after a brief but courageous fight with kidney cancer and Alzheimer’s disease on February 21, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on December 8, 1944, in Kansas City, Charlie spent his life bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
Charlie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force before embarking on a long and dedicated career with the United States Post Office. For 41 years, he worked as a mail carrier, earning the respect and appreciation of those he served through his commitment and reliability, including rarely missing a day of work, no matter the weather. These experiences contributed to his strong character traits and formation of structured daily routines, such as starting each day right by making his bed in perfect order almost to the end. He was a modest man, but he was loyal, hardworking, and loved his family beyond measure.
Charlie was known for his goofy sense of humor and being the king of a well-timed “dad joke.” He enjoyed bringing laughter to those around him, including his family, a neighbor, or a stranger in a grocery store who he considered a friend. His ability to find joy in everyday mundane moments left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charlie is survived by his loving family: his son Matt and wife Megan, along with their children Ellie, Maddie, and Luke; his daughter Marianne and husband Larry, and their son Kyle and his wife Rosa; and his daughter Julie and her daughter Samantha. He is also survived by his brother William Roy Jr., who resides in New Jersey. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, William Roy Bolch, Sr. and Delia Bolch.
May the memory of Charlie’s laughter and love bring comfort to all who knew him. An Inurnment will be held on February 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave, Kansas City, Missouri. A Visitation will follow from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Breakthrough T1D (in honor of his granddaughter Maddie), Susan G. Komen Foundation (in honor of both of his daughters), or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
