Catherine L. Romano

Catherine L. Romano (Falco) otherwise known as "Kay" was born April 7th 1929 in Kansas City. She was the daughter of Italian immigrants, Frank and Catherine (Saladino) Falco, and was one of eight Falco siblings: Tony, Peter, Leo, Charlie, Joseph, Virginia, and Nancy. On October 2, 1954, Catherine married the love of her life, Cosimo Romano with whom Catherine would remain married for fifty-two years until Cosimo's death in 2007. During their marriage Cosimo and Catherine raised three children, Nina (Rice) Romano, Anthony Romano and Cathy Jo Romano. The real loves of her life were her grandchildren: Nicole Hendrix, Shaun Rice, Ellen Romano Hoby, Nicolas Romano, Anna Romano, Emma Romano and Isabelle Romano. Later, she was blessed with great grandchildren: Lydia Hendrix, Ellis Hendrix, Madilyn Hendrix and Brady Rice. She will also join in heaven her three great-grandchildren Vincent, Addilyn and Lillian. To the grandchildren she was known as "Maw Maw" and to her greats she was known as "GiGi". Maw Maw or GiGi was always the centerpiece of our holidays, birthdays and special occasions. She passed down Italian recipes for her pasta, red sauces, chicken spiedini, meatballs and all sorts of Italian dishes. Her favorite activity during the holidays was making Italian cookies with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Catherine did her part when the family was struggling financially by going to work at the General Electric Plant in Lee's Summit, MO. She worked there for twelve years all the while running a home for her family. She truly was the glue that held the family together. We were blessed with her laughter and love in our lives for 94 years. She was called to heaven on what would have been her 69th wedding anniversary. True Love. We will never forget our mother, our Maw Maw, our Gigi. Rest in Peace Mom. We Love You.  Pallbearers will be Nick Romano, Shaun Rice, Shannon Hendrix, Ian Hoby, Daric Laing and Jacob Boyd.
