Carol Schaeffer

Carol Schaeffer, 90, of Kansas City, MO passed away December 9th, 2025, with loved ones at her side. Visitation will begin at 9:30am Friday, January 16th, 2026, followed by Rosary at 10:30am and Mass at 11:00am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice House 9001 State Line Road, Suite 300, Kansas City, MO 64114, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, P.O. Drawer 498 Emmitsburg, MD 21727 and/or Veterans of Foreign Wars, 406 W. 34th St., Kansas City, MO 64111.

Carol was born on December 26, 1934, to Louis and Leta (Nichols) Renner. After attending Lillis High School, she married the love of her life, Alwyn Stanley Schaeffer, on September 4, 1954. She and Alwyn went on to raise four children together, and Carol also pursued a dedicated career while always keeping her family at the heart of everything she did.

Later in life, Carol enjoyed watching her grandchildren, made the most beautiful sequined eggs, and tended her flower garden. She was an incredible baker (even though she called everything a “flop”), and we will all miss her German chocolate pies, angel food cakes, springerle cookies, and so much more.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Alwyn; her parents; brothers James, Richard, and Michael; and sister Barbara. She is survived and held in loving memory by sons David (Laurel) and James; daughters Deborah and Loran (Michael Gassman); grandchildren Trevor (Liberty), Jared, Jennipher (Michael Eisenstein), Robyn (Jay Peacock), Ian, Britney, Keaton (Rebecca), Allegra (Matthew Kincaid), Camielle (Michael Copland), Celeste (Brendan Houlehan), Dominic Gassman (Natalie), Michael Lonergan (Isabella), and Blaise Gassman (Lizzie); and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Kyra, Savannah, Kaitlyn, Jamison, Joshua, Joseph, Ethan, Keelyn, Miraflores, Augustine, Anselma, Serafina, Maura, Keiran, Genevieve, and Adeline; and her great-great-grandchildren.
