Fun-loving, charismatic, loyal, and caring. This was Brian Effertz. Born January 8, 1971 in Kansas City, Missouri, Brian enjoyed a childhood filled with sibling banter, backyard laughter, and endless gaming with his cousins. After he graduated from St. Thomas More and Rockhurst, Brian pursued various endeavors; and, ultimately, found himself at home in the family farming business. At Effertz Farms, Brian started from the ground up, embraced the hard-work the fields demanded, and raised through the ranks to ultimately become a vital part of the business.
Although Brian was fully committed to the growth and success of the family business, he never hesitated to stop and enjoy his friends and family. Most weekends, Brian could be found cheering his sons to victory or relaxing lakeside with his daughter to his left, a cooler of beer and friends to his right and a sweet set of country songs streaming through the air. As a local sports fanatic, Brian had a love-hate relationship with all things Jayhawk, Chief and Royal; he loved a victory and thoroughly cursed a loss. Regardless of the outcome, win/lose - rain/shine, Brian would always end things with a smile and a nod to a better tomorrow, erasing the loss of today.
To Brian, friends were always treated as family, and thus, his family grew to include countless people that will forever cherish their memories of a man that touched their hearts. On December 3, 2017, Brian Effertz joined the Saints and Angels of his Catholic faith. As a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish, his religious conviction left us with a shining spirt and a challenge to live happy and fulfilled lives, always.
Brian is survived by his beautiful wife Susan and their three children Emily, Owen and Max; his father Mick and his wife Donna; his siblings Kevin (Colleen), Michael (Sally), and Nicole (Aaron); his mother-in-law Gerry Marsh; his sisters-in-law Kelley (Pierre), and Erin (Drew); his nieces and nephews Nathalie, JP, Peyton, Tess, Riley, Brooks, Keegan, Grace, George, Gus, Shawn, Reese, Neely, Georgia, Van, and Remi; his step-siblings, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his mother Sue Anne Dunn Effertz, his father Gerald Dunn, and his father-in-law Jay Marsh.
