Billy Joe Evans, 92, passed away August 24, 2014. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28 at First Baptist Church of Raytown, 10500 Missouri 350, Raytown, MO: followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memorial Park in Grain Valley, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Christmas Pageant of First Baptist Church of Raytown.

Billy was born January 17, 1922, the son of Tom and Mamie Evans, in Stringtown, OK. He married his wife of 72 years, Rufie Elizabeth Satterfield on February 14, 1942 in Atoka, OK. Billy entered the military service in 1942 and engaged in combat in both France and Germany. He was a member of Patton?s 10th Armored Division and was awarded three bronze service stars. He was honorably discharged as the rank of Corporal in 1945. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1950. He retired from Montgomery Ward and Co. after 32 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Evans; sisters, Ollie Heard, Eddie Brown, Mary Bills and Betty Ritter; daughter in law, Patricia Evans. He is survived by his wife, Rufie; two sons, Billy Joe Evans, Jr. and wife Dorothy of Glendale, AZ and Charles Eugene Evans and wife Pauline of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Billy Joe III and wife Tanya, Sandra Kay Klein, Katheryn Elizabeth Myrick, Charles E. Evans, and Christina Marie Evans; and great grandchildren, Nickolas Klein, Billy Joe Evans IV, Ryan Evans, and Samuel Myrick.
