Our beautiful, beloved, bighearted Beverly J. Sutter Martin chose to ascend to her heavenly life one day after her 93rd trip around the sun, on Thursday December 19, 2024. Born in Salisbury, MO, she would later call Brookside her forever home. Beverly was absolutely besotted with her husband Jim and they enjoyed traveling the world just as much as they loved ordinary walks with their dog to the post office. Each day she was earthside, Beverly operated as a consummate German – she adored order, schedules, and hard work. Pencil and steno pad in hand, she was queen of lists and notes which served her well in her career at St. Teresa’s Academy from 1974 to 1996 - beginning in the library and ending as Secretary to the President. A self-proclaimed garage sale connoisseur, Beverly found great thrill in finding a good deal and repurposing everyday items over and over and over. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Beverly was a matriarch filled with pride, a very talented piano player, an owner of a spectacular hat collection, and would love for people to know she once won a “Great Legs Contest” while with KC Mortgage Company!
Beverly’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers and community of St. Anthony’s especially those in Memory Care who helped to ensure her transition was full of love, laughter, and a bit of Thelma and Louise mischief.
Beverly joins beloved family and friends in heaven including her parents John and Wilma Sutter, sister Gloria Flake Gerhardt, son Mark Dickinson, stepson Michael Martin, grandson Brian Martin and dogs Lulu and Corky. Her spirit lives on in her loving husband James F. Martin and her daughters Joni Gracheck (James) and Lori Dickinson; daughter-in-law Laura Dickinson Haynes; step-children Molly Aramovich (David), Pat Martin, Tim Martin (Linda), James Martin (Debby), and Stephen Martin (Evelyn); grandchildren Devon Hickey (James), Megan McAnany (Chris), Amanda Cain (Daral), Spencer Fries, Christine Dickinson (Ryan), Eric Dickinson, Rachel Martin, Wesley Martin, Mearyn Aramovich, Medeah Gilbert (John), and Mia Aramovich; many greatgrandchildren; and dog Arthur.
Beverly’s final mass will take place on Friday, December 27th at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 815 E. Meyer Blvd., KCMO 64131. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s – and in honor of Beverly’s love of hats, her family is encouraging fabulous hats to be worn if you wish! In lieu of flowers, donations in Beverly’s name can be made to St Peter’s Parish or The Salvation Army.
