Mother Tobin – Betty Jean Tobin, who was affectionally called “Mother Tobin” by many in her family and the broader community, departed her loving family on Sunday September 4, 2022.

Jean was mother to John Paul “Toby” Tobin, Catherine E. Gordon, Janice “Jan” Platz, Margaret Lynne Tobin, Mark Tobin and Gary Joseph Tobin. She raised her children with love and devotion in Leawood Kansas with her loving husband John “Jack” Tobin until his passing in 1982. She carried on as the matriarch of the family until her death at age 96.

Jean worked side by side with Jack’s television and radio show and subsequently with her boys as a prominent figure at Tobin Lawn and Landscape, Inc. where she worked for 40 years until being diagnosed with macular degeneration which forced her to retire at the young age of 95. Among her favorite hobbies included fishing, Farkle, slots and cards. She was most proud of her children whom she adored and all of whom loved her dearly.

Aside from her children she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Muehlebach Funeral Care at 6800 Troost in Kansas City, Missouri on September 10, 2022. Visitation begins at noon and funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. CST.
