Barbara Fitzgerel Kline, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in Overland Park, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64313. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery.
Barbara Jean Fitzgerel was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Raymond Hubert and Helen Jane Fitzgerel on April 5, 1940. She went to school at Clinton High School in Clinton, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked as a graphic designer in advertising. Primarily, she worked at Macys. She was married to Patrick John Kline until he passed away in September of 2004. During their marriage, she was most happy being a mother and homemaker.
Barbara loved Kansas City. She loved the Chiefs and the Royals. She loved barbeque. She loved the shops and the food and the people. She loved this city and did not want to live anywhere else.
She loved the arts. She studied art in college. She loved visiting local art galleries and museums.
Barbara enjoyed pets all of her life. She had a family dog during her sons childhood. A small Yorkshire Terrier called Chuckie. During her retirement years, she and her husband brought home a calico cat, which they named Buffy. Later, a friend brought a cat, which she named Spike. Her sons used to joke that she spoiled her cats more than she spoiled them. She did not argue this point.
Barbara is survived by her two sons; Patrick Fitzgerel and John Michael. She is also survived by her sister Beverly, nephew Michael, and her nieces, Betsy, Ann, and Cathy.
Barbaras family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of the staff at Tallgrass Creek Retirement Community who cared for her and made her happy and loved. They would also like to thank Ascend Hospice for their empathy and making her last days with us on this earth comfortable and dignified.
