Annabel McInerney, 91, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away February 10, 2021 in Kansas City, MO. The recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, February 19, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Elizabeth Parish or Catholic Charities.
Annabel was born on September 17, 1929 in Kansas City, MO to Paul and Clarabel (Harlan) Hurley. She lived most of her life in Kansas City and initially attended Westport High School but graduated from high school in Baltimore, MD and subsequently graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She returned to Kansas City and married James McInerney. They were married for 46 years until his death in 1997. She was a loving mother whose strong dedication to her faith and family remained until her death. She began teaching grade school at St. Elizabeth Grade School in 1963. She obtained a masters degree in Education from UMKC during her teaching career. She became the first lay principal of St. Elizabeth grade school in 1972. She had a true passion for teaching and her students leaving a strong legacy at the school and parish. She later worked at the Catholic Chancery and then served as parish manager at St. Thomas More prior to her retirement. She loved family dinners and entertaining friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, James F. McInerney. Survivors include her sons James S. McInerney; Vincent P. McInerney; daughter Mary Hansen (Jory); grandchildren Kendra Boesdorfer (Brent); Ryan McInerney; Emily McInerney; Jory J. Hansen (Allison); Elizabeth Botts (Dayton); Claire Hansen and four great grandchildren.
