Anna Sue Richard, affectionately known as "Mother" to all who knew her, went on to her Heavenly home on February 14, 2026, in Oak Grove, Missouri, at the age of 87. Born on February 6, 1939, in East Port, Oklahoma, Anna lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family and career.
Anna dedicated 47 years of her life to the Federal Building with the Social Security Administration. Her passion for sports led her to spend 27 memorable years working at both Kauffman and Arrowhead Stadiums, where she eagerly supported her beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. Beyond her professional life, she was known as a true "shopaholic," with her infectious enthusiasm for shopping bringing joy to family outings. The staff at Costco, Macy's, and Dillard's fondly recognized her by name, a testament to her warm and engaging personality... and her shopping hobby!
In 1958, Anna married William Richard, and together they built a beautiful family, raising two daughters, Patricia Richard and Linda Richard. As the proud matriarch, she nurtured an environment of life lessons, love, and support, always present for her children and extended family. Her legacy lived on through her grandchildren, RaShanda Monroe, Christopher Richard, and Toya Mitchell, alongside her six great-grandchildren, who all brought her immeasurable joy, as well as her dear sister, Helen Ross.
Anna's heart was as vast as her spirit, cherished by not only her immediate family but also by many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She was a steadfast source of strength and guidance, forever instilling values of kindness and perseverance in all those she touched.
She is preceded in death by her father, Prince O. Bussey, her mother, Viola T. (Mallard) Hill, and siblings including three sisters and three brothers.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Anna's life at Muehlebach Funeral Care in Kansas City, MO, on February 27, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM. Afterward, Anna will be laid to rest at Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
As we remember Anna Sue Richard, our matriarch, our treasured 'Mother' to all, we honor a woman whose love knew no bounds and whose spirit will forever illuminate our hearts. Her legacy is one of warmth, affection, and connection to family - one that will remain etched in our memories for years to come.
