Ann Koenig Bax of Aurora, Colorado (formally of Kansas City, Missouri) passed away suddenly from Lung Cancer, on December 22, 2020 in the presence of her family in Colorado.
Ann was born on September 10, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to H. Fred Koenig and Catherine Ann Koenig. She was the celebrated 7th child of the 7th child and her favorite number was 8. She reveled in the joy that was growing up in the Koenig household. Ann joined and then was asked to leave the Convent in 1964, after 3 days, because she was not very good at the vow of silence and her boyfriend called too many times. Ann graduated from Notre Dame de Sion High School in 1965 after having all sorts of fun and making life-long friends. She went on to the University of Missouri was a part of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated in 1969 with her degree in Physical Therapy. Ann married the love of her life, Steve Bax on Flag Day, June 14th, 1969. Ann has been Steves girlfriend from 1965 until now and celebrated 51 years of marriage with Steve in June of 2020. Ann was a gifted Physical Therapist who worked at Saint Josephs Hospital for 28 years. Throughout her career she was able to inspire so many to be able to move again after accident or injury. Ann was a professional Mom to Jonathan & Bridget, for many years-leading girl scouts, driving carpool in the Big Brown Van, slicing oranges for the big game, creating Christmas Scavenger Hunts, getting grass stains out of uniforms and setting up Rockhursts Sale-O-Rama. She was a master of adventure and fun for her kids and their friends. She made the best Party Mix and deep fried Pancakes. She was a lake explorer with many adventures at Pomona Lake with friends and family such as slalom skiing, star gazing, camping, sun-set watching and humming-bird admiring. Ann was a graciously, lovely woman who was strong as an ox (Leg-Wrestling Champion of the Ozarks consecutively from 1984-1997). Ann was a beautiful example of a fun-loving Catholic, who could see the love of God in anybody. Although the sweetest and most kind woman many ever knew, Ann didnt take any B.S. from anybody and could tell a hilariously off-color story with a sparkle in her eye and the innocence of a nun. With her smiling eyes, Ann was a magical part of a huge family-bringing the sparkle, fun and a little bit of trouble everywhere she went. She was a special daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, wife, Mom and Oma. She had many fun hobbies including being a part of the Side-by-Side Singers, going to Puerto Vallarta with the PV Girls, getting into Magical Aunt Mischief with her sisters, going to the mountains with her husband/kids/in-laws/grandkids, being the most enthusiastic cheerleader for all of the Grandkids and traveling the world with her loving husband, Steve. Ann will be remembered here on Earth with a smile on the face of the following family members; her husband, Steve Bax, Son, Jonathan Bax (Shea), Daughter, Bridget Lovett (Patrick), Grandchildren, Cassidy, Grant, Anna & Kate, Siblings, Toni Galvin, Kitty Schultz, & Berni Wheeler, Brothers-in-law Larry Bax Jr., Roger Metz, Sr., Tom Bax, Frank Bax, John Bax, Tony Wheeler Sr., Sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Koenig, Nancy Koenig, Mary Marrow Bax, Mary Kay Bax, and her very special nieces and nephews. A huge Celestial Celebration was attended on 12/22/2020 in Heaven by Ann and the following joyful attendees; her parents, Catherine & Fred Koenig, Brothers, Jude Koenig, Fred Koenig & Michael Koenig, Sister Marni Koenig, Parents-in-law, Betty and Larry Bax Sr., Sisters in Law; Mary Metz, Eleanor Bax, Patsy Koenig, Brother-in-law Art Schultz, some special nieces and nephews, far too many friends, The Virgin Mary, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
