Alvie M. Merritt

Alvie M. Merritt, age 74, passed August 25th, 2022, at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.

Alvie was born on March 10th, 1948 to Alvie Merritt Sr and Pauline Delaney. He was raised in Kansas City, MO by his mother and stepfather, Romie Haley. After graduating from Southwest High School, he went on to serve in the United States Army. 

On May 19th, 1969, he married the love of his life, Yi Chong Suk. They welcomed three children, Michael, Paula, and Irene. Alvie enjoyed coaching baseball, fishing, and camping with his family. 

Alvie is predeceased by his father Romie, father Alvie Sr, mother Pauline, sister Ruth, and brother Romie. Alvie is survived by his wife Chong, son Michael, daughter Paula (Mark), daughter Irene (TJ), grandchildren Megan, Amanda, Mark, Cameron, David, Blake, Romin, Alyssa, Ryder, Jett, 4 great-grandchildren, stepmother Patricia, and siblings Cheryl and Terri. 

Alvie was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family. Alvie was also a movie buff, historian, patriot, and he loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs. Alvie was a spiritual man who shared his love of Christ with all. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
