Adelia, born January 30, 1921, was a native of Kansas City, MO. After high school, she attended an art institute for two years before working for Bordens Dairy. She married Robert (Bob) F. Spann, Sr. in 1946, and they were married for 55 years before his death in 2002. She was a homemaker for 10 years before working as a compensation assistant for General Services Administration for 25 years. After retirement, she volunteered for 30 years as a librarian at LSP. Adelia loved shopping and enjoyed crafts, ceramics, and painting birdhouses that Bob built. She was a Scrabble Queen, and played Lexulous on-line until blindness overcame her in 2021. She was devoted to her family and had a heart for the elderly, pushing LSP residents wheelchairs to chapel and helping with grocery shopping and errands. She loved the Lord and attended daily Mass. Faith was her #1 priority, then family, friends, and herself last. She led an active prayer life ("Prayer works!") and read from the Bible every day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Spann, Sr.; her parents, George and Jessie Dawes; her brother George Dawes; her sisters, Cecilia DiCanzio and Rosemary Bales; and a grandson, Paul Reiner. She is survived by her sons, Robert F. Spann, Jr. of Santa Fe, NM and Michael D. Spann (Donyall) of Harrisonville, MO; daughters, Susan Nealy of Lenexa, KS and Jody Reiner (Mark) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandson William H.T. Nealy, Jr. (Masami); granddaughter, Therese K. Becker (Caleb); five great-grandchildren: Joe and Ray Nealy and Cody, Grace, and Nolan Becker; and beloved nieces and nephews.
