Adela Palausky was born November 12, 1934, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and summoned home to the peace of Christ on January 21, 2026. She married Edward Palausky on September 14,1957 and together they raised five children while moving from post to post as an Air Force family. Ultimately settling in Belleville, Illinois, she was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church for 50 years. She moved to Kansas City in 2025 and took up residence at St. Anthony’s Senior Living.
She is survived by her children Dianne Harrison (Blake), Joseph (Andi), and Kenneth; daughter-in-law Tina; grandchildren Michael (Stephanie), Melissa (Ryan), Kenneth Jr. (Melissa), Adam, Faith, and Nathan; and great-granddaughters Autumn and Everleigh.
She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and George Karavitch, husband Edward, brothers Edward and Robert Karavitch, sons Edward Jr. and Robert Palausky, and granddaughter Nicole Harrison.
Adela was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Caring for five children (and at least one dog) while relocating every few years never seemed a challenge for her. She presided over the home with discipline, but she also shared her love freely.
As her children grew up and became more independent, Adela became a businesswoman and owned and operated Idy’s Ceramics in Belleville in the 1980s and1990s. She was an enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan - if there was a game on, there was no point in trying to get her to do anything else. She was an excellent angler who loved to fish as often as possible, and she was likely one of the luckiest people on earth when it came to small stakes gambling – playing the slots, lottery, and bingo gave her a great deal of enjoyment. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new sights.
Adela had a wonderful experience at St. Anthony’s Senior Living in Kansas City and would often marvel to visitors at how remarkably nice everyone in the community was. Her family would like to express their utmost gratitude for all the love and care she received from the staff there.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd., St Louis, MO 63125. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
