Tom Holmes, 75, of Kansas City, MO passed away the morning of July 2nd. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Muehlebach Chapel (6800 Troost Ave) with a Rosary being said at 7:30pm. Mass will be at 10:00am Thursday July 6 at St. Elizabeths Catholic Church (2 E. 75th St) followed by a Catholic Burial Service at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery (7601 Blue Ridge Blvd.).Tom was born on September 14, 1941 to John J. and Eunice Holmes. He was the eighth of eleven siblings in the Holmes household. He was raised in Northeast Kansas City, MO and always spoke fondly of his days growing up there. He attended St. Stephens Catholic school and then Cardinal Glennon High School where his primary sport was football. After graduation, he joined the US Marine Corps and served his country proudly while being stationed in San Diego, Honolulu and North Carolina. After leaving the service, he returned home where he started college and met his future wife, Mary Lou Watson. They married in August 1966 and started a family in advance of earning his bachelors degree from Rockhurst College in 1971. Tom and Mary Lou were blessed with three boys. As the boys grew up, Tom spent a lot of time at the boys practices and games. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and was a loyal season ticket holder for over 50 years. He loved playing golf as it allowed him to spend time with his brothers, sons and friends. Tom spent the majority of his career in Human Resources, retiring from Water District #1 in 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Bernie, Marty, Herbie and grandson, Ryan Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Lou (Watson) Holmes, their three sons, Michael and wife Vicki, Chris and fianc Shelly Schmitz , Greg and wife Sara; grandchildren, Taylor and Madison Holmes, Emily, Abby and Eric Holmes and Brooke, Kade and Logan Holmes. He is survived by siblings Barbara Ann Raveill, Mary Jane Zych, Danny, Robert, Jimmy Joe, Mike and Tim as well as many nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Elizabeths Parish.





Following the graveside service there will be a luncheon back at St. Elizabeth's Church. SERVICES Visitation
