Teresa Joan Krall (Sloan) of Kansas City died on December 9, 2017 of heart failure at the age of 85. Services will be held on December 22nd at St Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Rd., Roeland Park, KS, with Rosary at 9am and Mass at 10am, followed by a funeral procession to Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association at donatenow.heart.org or 6800 93rd St., Overland Park, KS. Teresa Sloan was born on November 20, 1932 in Kansas City, MO to parents Clarence and Louise Sloan. She graduated from Hogan High School in 1950 at the top of her class and earned her nursing degree (RN) from Saint Mary College in 1953. After raising six children she went back to college, earning her Masters in Social Work from San Diego State University in 1986. She was an outspoken advocate for women, always involved in her community, and a supporter of the arts. She sang with various choirs, including the Washington National Chorus at DAR Hall in Washington D.C. She loved quilting, reading, scrabble, baking, gardening, movies and travel. She lost her eyesight later in life, moving to a San Diego assisted living community closer to family and friends. Terry is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Margaret Mary Sloan. She is survived by brothers, Clancy Sloan of San Diego, CA and Tom Sloan of Overland Park, KS; children, Carolyn Krall of Phoenix, AZ, Laura Hollenbaugh of Arvada, CO, Nicholas J. Krall of Sylmar, CA, Jonathan Krall of Alexandria, VA, Teresa A. Krall of San Diego, CA, and Elizabeth Gayton of Oak Hill, VA; grandchildren Sarah Parker, Alexandra Parker, Simone Parker, Kelsey Hollenbaugh, Alana Hollenbaugh, Stephen Gayton III, Edward Gayton, Christopher Gayton and Angelina Krall; and nieces, nephews and cousins across the country.
