Ruth C. Scheier

Ruth Scheier (Connor), 87, of South Kansas City, passed away on Nov. 4, 2021. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 12 at 10:00 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish 4101 E 105th Terr., KCMO. Interment will be at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery, 61st and Quivira, Shawnee, KS, at 2:00 pm. Family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Ruth was born on Jan. 24, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, the youngest of 2 boys & 6 girls, to Arthur and Ruby Connor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald Scheier, her son Donald Jr., her parents, her brothers Patrick and Bill, and her sisters Pam, Jody, Betty, Genny and Pat. She is survived by her sons; Evan (Martha), Jerry (Cindy), and Eric (Janet), 12 grandchildren; Amanda (Paul) Maniscalco, Kevin (Kendra), Brian (Toni), Zachary, Benjamin, Noah, Abigail, Theresa, Clare, Alex, Garrett, Erica, and great grandchildren; Max, Ray, Piper, and Presley.
Ruth graduated from Lillis High School and held a series of office jobs before marrying Don in 1957. She stayed home raising her family until 1977, when she began working part-time at Red Bridge United Methodist Church as their secretary. She stayed over 18 years before retiring to spend more time with Don and her grandchildren.
Ruth was a member of St. Catherines Parish for 59 years, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and marriage prep leader. She enjoyed frequent trips to Las Vegas with Don, and wintering in Siesta Key, Florida with her sisters and their husbands. In her free time she liked to read, and participate in book club and stock club. Ruth had a talent and passion for art with her sketching, painting, sculpting, and jewelry-making.
