Peter G. Koklas, age 92, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on December 3, 2017 at Research Medical Center. The Trisagion Service will be chanted at 5:45pm on Thursday, December 7th with the Visitation following until 7:30pm at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00am on Friday, December 8th at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 12001 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145. Burial following at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
Pete was born on May 6, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, to George Koklas and Barbara (Kalages) Koklas. He was one of four children; having one brother and two sisters. Pete attended Blessed Sacrament Grade school, and he graduated from Central High School. In 1943, Pete enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country proudly. He fought in World War II where he was a Radio Man, Third Class, for the Sinal Corps. on Wake Island. Pete received the Victory Medal for his honorable service. When Pete returned home, he and his late brother, Dennis G. Koklas, owned and operated the Mainstreet Tavern located at 5th and Main in Kansas City, Missouri, in the River Quay area for many years.
The Trisagion will be chanted by The Rev. Constantine L. Sinos at 5:45pm.
