Pamela Darnell

Pamela J. Darnell, 78, of Prairie Village, KS passed away October 17, 2014. A celebration of her life will be held October 23rd at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. at 1:30 P.M.



Pam was born November 14, 1935 in Wichita, KS to Clif and Frances Barron. She attended Wichita East High School where she was a cheerleader. Following graduation she attended the University of Kansas where she became a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Her interest in cheerleading continued as a member of the University of Kansas Cheerleading Squad. She received her degree in physical therapy in 1957.

She married her husband, Dale, in 1959. Pam and Dale were married for 55 years. Together they have three children - Eric (Laura), Rachel and Michael.

With her partners, Pam owned and operated an arts and crafts gallery in the Prairie Village shopping center called Crafts Incredible. In addition to running her business, she volunteered at the Children?s Place, Research Hospital and St. Luke?s Hospital.

Later in life, she and her husband built a home in Redstone, Colorado where they spent summers for 21 years.

Pam loved people, nature, her time in Redstone and the KU Jayhawks. She was a kind, loving, gentle, generous person who loved her family and enjoyed life to its fullest. We will miss her.

She is survived by her husband, her children and her grandchildren - Rex, Leah, Caroline, Kate and Chloe; a brother, Jim Barron and a sister, Priscilla Partridge. Pam was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Patricia Schaake.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the University of Kansas Cancer Center (Gift Processing Department, KU Endowment, Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Care Pavilion, PO Box 928, Lawrence, KS 66044-0928), National Brain Tumor Society (braintumor.org), Red Stone Colorado Art Foundation (c/o Linda Cox, 564 Crystal Park Drive, Redstone Colorado, 81623) or a charity of the donor?s choice.
