Magdelin M. Langle

April 19, 1913 — October 17, 2014

Magdelin M. Langle of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on

Friday, October 17, 2014 after a long, active life.

The family will welcome friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 23rd at Visitation Church, 5141 Main Street, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Magdelin was born on April 19, 1913 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of A. L. Huber and Leora Brink Huber. She married John "Mike" Langle in 1937 and together they raised two children. Having a keen mind and always proficient with numbers, she worked by Mike's side in the family business as bookkeeper for Liggett & Langle Co for 40 years. After moving in retirement to Kingswood Senior Living Community, she served on various committees and resident councils often using her aptitude for numbers by serving as treasurer.

She was a life-long Catholic and was a member of St. Francis Xavier and St. Peter parishes and, since her move to Kingswood, a member of Visitation Parish. At St. Peter parish she served as Eucharistic Minister at a time when women were new to parish ministry.

Magdelin was proud of her eight grandchildren and was a wonderful role model for mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Always wanting to be in on things, she learned to navigate the internet and, until recently, kept in touch with family and friends via email. She also enjoyed seeing pictures her grandchildren posted on Facebook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brother A. L. Huber, Jr. and his wife, Frances, her sister Marion Haake Melzarek and her husbands Bob Haake and Clem Melzarek.

Magdelin is survived by her son John Jr. and his wife Julitta and their children Jennifer, John III and his wife Holli, and Joe and his wife Bridget, all of Kansas City; her daughter Martha Hamilton and husband Stan and their daughter Christina all of Bozeman, MT, and their children Cheryl Shelhamer and her husband Will of Carlsbad, CA, Steven and his wife Kate of Denver, CO, Curt and his wife Molly of Seattle, WA and Jim of New York City, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

For those who wish to express a remembrance, the family suggests donations to Visitation Church, Kingswood Senior Living Community or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.muehlebachchapel.com
