James Connole

James "Jim" Connole passed away on August 18, 2021. The love and laughter he shared with all who knew him far outweighs the loss felt by his passing. "Jim" was a lifelong Kansas City area resident, a member of St Catherines Catholic Church for over 60 years, and retired in 1993 after a 43-year career in lithography. Jim began his work as an apprentice lithographer, working his way into the position of pressman, and eventually as a plant foreman in the lithography industry. Jim earned the reputation and was known as "the best color man" in Kansas City.
Jim was born on April 1, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo. His parents were Alice M. Lee and Joseph D. Connole. He attended schools in Kansas City and Peculiar, Mo. Jim was a Korean War Veteran, having served in both the U.S. Marine Corp., and the U.S. Navy. Jims honor to his country was passed on to his 4 sons, several grandsons and several granddaughters who have all served or are currently serving in the various branches of the U.S. Military. On a blind date in 1951, he met the love of his life, Juliet (Judy), marrying her 3 months later. This love affair continued until his death. Jim and Judy, as they were known by all, are now reunited and dancing to Glen Millers "In The Mood", or possibly, Nat King Coles, "Unforgettable".
Jim is survived by what he always stated were his and Judys 8 greatest accomplishments in life, their children. They are James & Carol Connole family of Lawrenceville, GA; Michael & Jean Ann Connole family of Argyle, TX; Christina (Connole) & Patrick Glavin family of Overland Park, KS; Juliette (Connole) & (Ray Freeman) family of Jacksonville, FL; Timothy & Joy Connole family of Guam; Patrick & Billie Connole family of Loma Linda, MO; Elizabeth (Connole) & David Patterson family of Pittsburg, KS, and Helen (Connole) & Randy Baker family of Liberty Hill, TX.
Jims legacy also includes 28 grandchildren, 33 great- grandchildren and countless extended family members.
Our beloved dad never met a stranger, remembering nearly everyones name he ever met, and never was without a smile! His greatest joy was his family. His 8 children enjoyed many family vacations and have lasting memories to carry them through their lives.
Over the years his health had many challenges. Jim met each of these challenges with his sense of humor and determination amazing even his own doctors by his will to live. He survived so many medical issues, including cancer, that he was affectionally known as the "missing link" by his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved Judy; parents; brothers Frank and John; sisters Violet, Mary, and Anna.
The family wishes to extend thanks to all the doctors and nurses that have treated their dad over the years. Words cannot express how much gratitude we have for your compassion and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4101 E. 105th Terrace, Kansas City, Mo at 10:00 a.m. on August 28, 2021. COVID-19 protocol will be in place with social distancing and facemasks being required.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
