|Leo went back to his Lord on January 27, 2014. He was the only son of Joseph Leo Amor and Margaret Ellen White Amor, both deceased. His mother was a single parent long before the phrase was coined as his father died when Leo was six months old. Leo was a life long Catholic.
Graduated from St James grade school, Rockhurst High School, and earned a business Management degree after eight years of study from the evening division of Rockhurst University in 1973. He met his beloved Beverly, wife of 57 years, on a blind date arranged by Ann and Bill Hodes. He served in the U.S. Army in the Military District of Washington as a field radio repairman. Bev and Leo had two sons while in the Army and four daughters subsequently. He is very proud of and leaves them all, Joseph Leo III-Debbie, Daughter #5, John Keith-Stephanie, Denise Marie-Rick Dostal, Theresa Rose-Jeff Henry, Cathleen Ann-Craig Golub, Carol Lynne Hooper, Chris Hooper, Aunt Virginia Scaletty, seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Leo was a Eucharistic Minister bringing Jesus to shut-ins, nursing homes,
St Joseph Hospital and helping at Mass throughout the years. He taught religious education at
St Elizabeth’s in Kansas City, Cure of Ars in Leawood Kansas, and was principal and teacher at The Shrine of St. Patrick in Laurie, Mo where Bev and Leo retired to in 1996. Leo held management and executive marketing management positions with The Vendo Co., Lister Diesels div of Hawker-Siddley, a UK international manufacturing company and was heavily involved with importing diesel engines and components from the United Kingdom and the sale of these products in USA. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus in Camdenton Mo, a third degree member at 10381 in Laurie MO and a charter member of 14270 at St Thomas More in Kansas City. Additionally he served on the finance ministry team at St. Thomas More. For many years, Leo was a retreat captain for White House, the Jesuit Retreat House in St. Louis. In lieu flowers the family requests contributions be made to White House Jesuit Retreat, 7400 Christopher Dr., St Louis, MO 63129 or St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd Kansas City, MO.
The rosary will be prayed at 10:00am, Wednesday, January 29th at St. Thomas More Church followed by visitation until 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
